Batting matters

Can I, should, not use a batting supplied by a customer when I belive it'll cause me difficulties?

Batting that easily tears
Batting that easily tears

I've recently had two customers bring me a certain brand of batting. I've used it before and have had similar issues. As I advance the quilt on the frame, this batting is particularly clingy, and when I need to tug to get the batting even, it tears.

So, one thing is I need to be more aware of how I'm advancing and work more to advance the backing, batting and top more in unison. Ok, that's on me.

But, this isn't an issue with my preferred batting. And when I do the "pancake pull" (using as my hands up to my elbows to grab batting be tugged), it moves much more easily...and doesn't tear.

Leading me to my question. When someone brings me this brand of batting that I don't like, can I say, "no"? If we talk about batting ahead of drop off, I have the discussion. Maybe I'll get back to you on this topic.

My note to self is to encourage customers to use quality batting.
