Community Quilts
Meeting the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Add your contact info below to receive an email reminder for each gathering

Hi, I'm Barb Gengler, owner of Candy Store Quilting and a member of Quilt Company East quilting guild. I invite QCE members to my studio on the second Wednesday of each month (except June and August) to work together on quilts for Reading Ready Pittsburgh (flyer below).
In the 2025-26 year, we made and gave over 30 quilts to this charity and have many more as quilts in progress.
The NEW SPACE is cozier (i.e. smaller) but still has amazing amenities:
A longarm we use for the charity quilt
NEW a sit-down longarm for FMQ
Two design walls
A large cutting surface
An Accuquilt station
Ironing surfaces
Three to four of my sewing machines available
Table space for a couple of community quilters to bring her own machine
Two shelves dedicated to the QCE community quilters to store the tub, box, bolts of donated fabric, works in progress and finished quilts!

The new space will present some challenges, but nothing we quilters can't figure out. By staggering arrival times some of the initial congestion issues might be allayed. Please sign up to let us know how many and when people are arriving. If you'd like longarm (we'll be trying out pantographs!) or do some FMQ at the sit-down longarm, the form has slots for that, too.
NEW!!! Candy Store Quilting is now located in The Rockwell building at 400 N. Lexington St. (less than 1/2 mile from the old location).

Candy Store Quilting is located in The Rockwell building at 400 N. Lexington St. If you are familiar with the Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse or Construction Junction, the Rockwell building is the next building to the north.
Enter the door marked SECURITY and complete the visitor registry. Ask for a map to my space if it's your first time to Candy Store Quilting, or print the walking map below. Find your way (no need for someone to let you in) and travel to the 2nd floor by elevator.
Gatherings are casual events where you can drop in, with little prep, and use my machines and equipment as we create projects together.
As you know, many tasks surround creating quilts. You might sew, iron, cut, pin, layout, organize, longarm, bind or just cheer on your fellow quilters as we work on community quilts.
